The Town of Smiths Falls is currently accepting applications for one (1) full time Chief Executive Officer / Chief Librarian.

POSITION: Chief Executive Officer / Chief Librarian

REPORTS TO: Smiths Falls Public Library Board

PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Reporting to the Library Board under authority of the Ontario’s Public Libraries Act, the Chief Librarian is accountable for leading the organization including strategic and operational planning and for anticipating trends and change.

WORKPLACE: Smiths Falls Public Library

HOURS: 35 hours per week including evenings and Saturdays when required

New Take & Make craft kits for kids are ready to go!
  • “Stained Glass” Frames for ages 4-7 (pattern will be a random nature/animal shape)
  • “Stained Glass” Lanterns for ages 8+

Take & Make kits are available on a first come, first served basis. Limit of 1 per child. Kits will be available via curbside pickup by appointment only. Please do not come to the library without first contacting us.

Ancestry Remote Access Extended

Smiths Falls Public Library Cardholders Can Now Access Ancestry Library Edition From Home For FREE!

Courtesy of ProQuest and its partner Ancestry, remote access to Ancestry Library Edition has been temporarily extended for Smiths Falls Public Library cardholders working remotely. Remote access will be available until March 31st, 2021, and will be re-evaluated monthly as needed.

This resource is password protected and available for Smiths Falls Public Library cardholders only.

Library Service Impact – December 22

Services at the Smiths Falls Public Library will be reduced due to the provincial lockdown announced Monday, December 21. In-person browsing and use of the public computers and photocopiers will not be permitted during the lockdown. The book drop at the Elmsley St. entrance will remain open. Library material can be returned anytime.

The library will be open during regular hours Tuesday, December 22 and Wednesday, December 23 from 1:00 – 8:00 PM and holiday hours Thursday, December 24 (Christmas Eve) from 1:00 – 3:00 PM.

Curbside pickup will be available starting Monday, December 28. Requests for materials can be submitted:

“Get A Grip” Boot Grippers Now Available at the Smiths Falls Public Library

“Get A Grip” boot grippers are now available at the Smiths Falls Public Library, for Lanark County and Smiths Falls citizens. Let’s stay safe and on our feet this winter!

“Get A Grip” boot grippers are free for Lanark County and Smiths Falls residents age 65 or older ($25/pair for people under 65). Limit of 2 pairs per person (all ages) due to limited supply.

Donations over and above the cost of the grippers are welcome.
