Accessible Services

The Smiths Falls Public Library is pleased to be able to offer a number of services specifically for the seniors in our community.

  • Select-A-Bag: Qualified staff select materials from regular and large-print books, (maximum of 15 items) and any other unreserved material according to the topic or interest of the borrower. The bag can be picked up by the borrower’s designated representative.
  • Wheelchair Access and Elevator: Wheelchair access and the elevator is available from outside at the back of the building. Please call the library to let us know when to expect you so that we can provide assistance.
  • Wheelchair-accessible Computer Workstations: Wheelchair-accessible computer workstations are available at the library.

Services for People with a Print Disability

Our library offers access to the Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) collection for people who have difficulty reading print due to a visual, physical or learning disability. There are different delivery options, including access to thousands of titles on Daisy, Braille, downloadable resources and even Bookshare, an accessible online library. Please contact the library to enquire about eligibility and to register with CELA.

What Is a Print Disability? (CELA)

We are also a depository library for the Centre for Equitable Library Access and have over 600 titles in Daisy Book format available for loan to patrons with a print disability.
