Children’s Library Card Registration

Currently the Library has a membership of approximately 7,000 with a circulation of about 95,000 books per year. The library houses over 37,000 items which are catalogued and can be searched by subject, title or author.

Membership is free to citizens of Smiths Falls and Montague. Simply register with the check out desk to become a member. You will need to show your ID and complete and sign a simple form. You will then be issued a library card, which you need to present whenever you borrow library materials and books. Children in Grade 8 or under must register for membership accompanied by a parent or guardian who presents identification with name and address, and accepts responsibility for all fees incurred.

Book Pickup Program

As a member of the Library, you can also enroll in the Library Book Pickup Program. This program enables you to call the library and let the librarian know what type of books you are interested in. The librarian will pick out, up to 13 books for you, which you or your representative can simply pick up.

Can’t Make It Into the Library? We Can Bring the Library to You!

Borrowers who are confined to their homes can arrange to have library staff and volunteers regularly select and deliver library materials to their door every month. This free service is available to Smiths Falls and area residents of any age who are confined to their home or residence for more than 3 months because of age, illness, frailty or caregiver responsibilities.

Qualified staff select materials from regular and large-print books, DVDs, magazines, and audio books. Materials are available in English. Homebound clients may also request specific titles. Materials chosen to fit our borrower’s interests are delivered every three weeks, either by library staff or volunteers. The Library delivers to individual homes, continuing care centres and senior residences. Please note that homebound service borrowers have extended borrowing privileges including longer loan periods and exemptions from late item charges. Library staff also provide telephone or Internet support for renewals and requesting specific titles.

Contact the library at (613) 283-2911 with your request.
